How to straighten teeth – what you need to know

by | Aug 14, 2017 | Blog | 0 comments

Do you or someone in your family have crooked teeth?  Have you been thinking it is time to see the dentist about straightening?

Dr Jack shares his knowledge on the latest treatment options to get you that straight smile, you’ve always wanted.

You now have more options than ever before when it comes to teeth straightening, Metal Braces, Clear Aligners and invisible Braces. Most of our patients prefer clear aligners or invisible braces, and I can’t blame them, no-one wants a mouth full of metal!  But knowing which options is right for you is best left up to the professionals, so let’s take a look at your options;

Look, we could talk about metal braces, they are a reasonable option for you, but not a popular choice with many patients. Don’t get me wrong, metal braces are an effective way to straighten teeth however they do not exactly look nice!

New, modern virtually invisible straightening techniques are available with Dr Jack at IDC.  These latest techniques make straightening your teeth more discrete than ever before and it’s not as expensive as traditional metal braces.

Invisible Braces

Invisible Braces work exactly the same way as traditional Metal Braces, except there is NO Metal!  They are a popular option among adults and teens who are looking for a discrete yet effective way to straighten teeth. Instead of metal, we use a clear or tooth coloured system that is much more cosmetically pleasing, and they’re virtually invisible.

Clear Aligners

Removable clear plastic aligner system like Invisalign or Clear Connect can straighten your teeth without the need for braces. These systems use a series of clear virtually invisible removable plastic aligners that are specifically moulded to your teeth to move them into the correct position. Using a sequence of plastic aligners, that are changed about every 2 weeks until your teeth are in the correct position.
