Anxious about Dentistry

Nitrous Oxide Sedation at Infinity Dental Care

Are you anxious about dentistry?

Here at Infinity Dental Care Winston Hills Dr Jack and the team understand that a trip to the dentist can be a stressful and emotional time. Dr Jack goes to extra efforts to try and make every patient feel as safe and as comfortable as possible during a dental procedure.

It is important to the Infinity Dental Care team that every patient has a painless and calm dental visit. There are many things Dr Jack can do to help patients feel relaxed during a dental visit.

If you are anxious, phobic or nervous about a dental procedure than Dr Jack may offer you Nitrous Oxide Sedation also known as Happy or Laughing Gas to help you relax.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation during your dental procedures can help you have an anxiety-free dental visit. So if you have sensitive teeth, a fear of dentists, have a bad gag reflex, hate needles, or have limited time to spend at the dentist than using Nitrous Oxide Sedation may be a good option for you.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose, when inhaled it can make people feel euphoric and relaxed. It’s colourless, sweet-smelling, and non-irritating.

Nitrous Oxide works quickly, with in 2-3 minutes and once the gas supply has stopped the effects wear off within 5 minutes and patients can safely drive home after their dental visit. Nitrous Oxide Sedation is very safe, it has very few side effects and the drugs used have no ill effects on the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, or brain.

For some dental procedures Dr Jack may use Nitrous Oxide Sedation instead of local anaesthesia. So if you’re determined to give the needle a miss, talk to Dr Jack about your options. Some patients are not comfortable with the effects of laughing gas because they’re afraid they might lose control or because it makes them feel nauseous – this is quite rare. If you’re prone to nausea, it’s a good idea to have a meal about 4 hours before your appointment.

On rare occasions, people have reported feeling dizzy, sick or see hallucinations. Usually this is due to oversedation, this is easily reversible by reducing the amount of Nitrous Oxide in the mix. These days however, Nitrous Oxide units have built-in safety features preventing an accidental overdose.

Dr Jack and the Infinity Care team are specially trained to use and administer Nitrous Oxide Sedation so you can feel safe that you are in experience hands.
