Clear aligners, Invisible Braces or Traditional Metal Braces which choice is best for you??

We get asked this question a lot! There are a number of factors that you should consider when choosing a teeth straightening system to help you achieve the smile you want.

Most people look at three things when it comes to choosing a tooth straightening system

  1. Cost
  2. Time
  3. Appearance

Cost

Well when it comes to cost, most of the straightening systems are roughly the same price. There may be some slight difference in cost depending on the severity of your treatment.  Everyone is different and the type of treatment you need to move your teeth to the correct position will be different to the next person.

Clear aligners are a little less expensive compared to Invisible Braces or Traditional Metal Braces. Clear aligners cost somewhere between $5000 – $8000. Invisible Braces $3000 – $8000.  And Metal Braces $2500 – $7500.

Dr Jack will advise you on all the costs of your treatment before commencement.  Infinity Dental Care also offer flexible payment plans, so you can spread the cost of your straightening out over 6 months or 2 years.

Time

The amount of time it takes to straighten your teeth will depend on what position your teeth are in to begin with. If you only have a few misaligned teeth then you may only need a straightening system for 4-6 months. However if you have many crooked teeth or a misaligned jaw then you may need a longer treatment plan, sometimes this might be up to 18 months or 2 years.

Making teeth straight can be quicker with invisible or metal braces than with clear aligners, however the fine tweaking towards the end of your treatment is often slower with braces but quicker with clear aligners. So overall, treatment times are roughly the same, it really depends on your treatment plan and which is the best option for you.

Clear aligners need to be worn at least 22 -24hours a day just because they are removable doesn’t mean you can take them out and not wear them! Not wearing your aligners will slow your treatment time down. This means essentially you need to be wearing them all the time, except when you are eating or brushing.

Appearance

Experience tells us that most patients want a straightening system that not only completes the job but also looks good during the treatment phase. For most patients the thought of metal braces is very unappealing, they make it hard to smile and may make you feel self-conscious.

If you are worried about the negative impact Metal Braces may have on your life then the modern and discreet option of Clear Aligners and Invisible Braces are the best choice for you.
